British doctors removed a pen from a woman’s stomach swallowed by mistake for 25 years and still can write, as reveals the scientific journal “British Medical Journal” (“BMJ”).

The woman, 76 years and whose identity has not transpired, was a quarter of a century as the pen she were using before a mirror to see some white spots on her tonsils accidentally slipped through her throat.

X-ray examination of the doctor did not find the pen, so no one believed the story that told by the woman according to the article of “BMJ” and the pen remained lodged in her stomach so far.
This year, a new review did find the pen, which was extracted using an endoscopic procedure requiring anesthesia.
The doctors were surprised to find that the pen was still writing and attached to the report submitted to the journal an image that shows the word “Hello” written on paper with the pen.
The pen did not cause any damage to the stomach of the woman, even though that was long pointed object inside her body.
In the article of “BMJ” that describes this unusual medical case, doctors presented their findings from the error that prevented detection of pen 25 years ago.
“X-rays applied to the abdominal region can not detect plastic objects that have been ingested, so sometimes you have to trust the word of the patient, it may seem strange that counts,” said “BMJ” in its article.
