New observations with the Very Large Telescope (VLT) of the European Southern Observatory discovered that two galaxies in the early universe are about to collide.

This observation studied by astronomers was achieved thanks to the bright light of a gamma ray burst, common in stellar collisions.

Such events in the early Universe lead to the formation of many new stars and can be triggered gamma-ray bursts.

The gamma ray burst served to know that almost 12 billion years ago the universe was already highly developed chemistry, because it is now thought that they were heavy elements in galaxies like the Milky Way recently.

These elements are generated through the dying stars that enrich the gas in galaxies, which is used to measure the lifetime of a galaxy.

The VLT found that these two galaxies are similar in composition to those 2 billion originated after the Big Bang.

The new pair of young galaxies discovered must be forming new stars at a tremendous speed, the cold gas enriched in a fast and intense.

Since both galaxies are very close to each other and can be in the process of fusion, which in turn cause the formation of new stars after the collision of gas clouds.
